FAQs

What makes Salty Hair different from other sea salt sprays?

Most sea salt sprays use alcohol, which dries out your hair. Ours doesn’t. We use real ocean water from Nova Scotia (because nothing else does the trick) and hydrating plant-based ingredients, so you get that salty texture without the crunchy, dry feel.

Will this dry out my hair?

No, Salty Hair Sea Salt Spray is alcohol-free and packed with hydrating plant gels that actually help strengthen and condition your hair while giving it that post-beach texture. We think it may even be better than the real thing.

Our Surf Shampoo gives you soft, touchable, surf-inspired hair in a bar formula that's pH-balanced (so it won't leave a weird waxy residue) and salon grade. You won't miss the bottle.

How do I use it?

Spray all over onto damp or dry hair from roots to ends. Depending on length, scrunch or twist, or work through with hands for texture. Allow to air dry. You can also use it before styling to add grip or refresh second-day hair. Works great as an alternative to dry shampoo without leaving a powdery feel, or to add volume/weight to thinning hair.

Tips:

  • For long hair: try scrunching hair or twisting strands with fingers to create a wavy beach look.
  • For short hair (or when more hold is needed): first apply a paste or clay to give more hold, and then spray Salty Hair after to give your hair beachy texture and volume.

Is this just for people who surf?

No, it’s made for anyone who wants that windswept, textured, salty hair. Whether you're paddling out or just pretending, our fans are beach lovers, city dwellers, and wannabe surfers alike.

Is it safe for colour-treated hair?

Yes. Salty Hair is gentle and safe to use on colour-treated hair.

Is it travel-friendly?

Totally. Our 100ml bottle is carry-on approved and compact enough to throw in a beach bag or backpack.

Is the packaging eco-friendly?

Yes, we use recyclable glass bottles and ocean-safe ingredients. Plus, we donate $1 from every bottle sold to replant coral reefs and kelp forests.
